I took the opportunity to go and see my sister at university in Falmouth last week. I couldn’t travel all that way and not snap any pictures. Nothing daring or exciting, just some memories I’d like to keep pictures of.
I’ve been making the most of the good weather and local festivities this summer. These are some snaps from my travels over the last few weeks. Doing event photography is great fun and I will definitely try to do more. I felt as though I was pushing my camera to its limits. Shooting RAW seems to clog up its processing power. I could take a burst of 4-5 shots then the camera would grind to a halt while it processed the images. This means I missed some great opportunities while the camera ‘loads’ its current images. I’m absolutely looking to upgrade as soon as possible when my finances allow.
Another thing highlighted while out shooting was the flaws of my cheap 70-300mm zoom lens. Having thought I had taken some great images of performers I loaded them up on my PC to find they were grainy and not sharp. This could be down to the ISO capabilities of my current camera and the maximum aperture of the lens itself. Either way, it made for a bad combination.
Spare time with my Sister is becoming rarer as we both get older, we had a lovely walk around our local Nature Reserve this afternoon. It was wonderful company and a pleasant experience despite the overcast lighting and bitter cold. A few snaps of the adventure.
